IELTS band roadmap: how to plan your preparation
An IELTS plan should begin with two numbers: your current level and your target band. The distance between them decides how much foundation work, exam practice, and feedback you need.
Do not skip the level check
A learner aiming for band 6.5 may need grammar cleanup, vocabulary growth, writing correction, speaking fluency, or all of them. A level check keeps the plan realistic.
Separate foundation from exam technique
Exam technique helps only when the language base can support it. If the foundation is weak, practice tests alone usually repeat the same mistakes.
Put writing and speaking feedback early
Reading and listening can be practised alone more easily. Writing and speaking improve faster when a teacher points out patterns and gives specific next steps.
Match the schedule to the deadline
A close deadline needs focused priorities. A longer timeline can combine foundation, skill work, feedback cycles, and full mock practice.
