How to choose an English class for children in Tehran

The best children’s English class is not only the class with the most books. It should fit the child’s age, confidence, attention span, previous exposure, and family schedule.

1

Start with age and readiness

A three-year-old, a first grader, and a ten-year-old need different pacing. Younger children usually need movement, repetition, songs, stories, and short activities. Older children can handle more reading, writing, and structured class routines.

2

Look for confident speaking, not only homework

Parents should ask how often children speak in class, whether shy learners get gentle support, and how the teacher uses mistakes. A child who feels safe trying English is more likely to keep learning.

3

Check the role of phonics

Phonics is useful when the child is ready to connect English sounds with letters. It supports early reading and spelling, but it works best beside stories, listening, and real classroom language.

4

Ask how placement works

For children, placement should consider age, previous exposure, speaking confidence, attention, and reading readiness. A short teacher check is often more useful than a written score alone.
